Kirkby Thore School Council was formed in 2004. We try to help improve school life for everyone in the school.
Each year group elect 2 representatives to serve on the Council for half a year. The council meet every 2 weeks. Children write their suggestions for improving the school in suggestion books which are kept in each class. These ideas are discussed in the fortnightly meeting. The members report back to their classes after each meeting.
Some of our achievements so far are:
Raising money for games to be used in wet playtimes
Fundraising for the Tsunami Appeal, Comic Relief and Children in Need,
Keep our school tidy campaign (on-going)
Re-cycling bins in each classroom
Bibs for the buddies
Being involved in the improvements of the school toilets
Raising money for play-ground equipment (on-going)
Ideas for the future include:
Raising the profile of the School Council within the school community
Improving our system of reporting back to our classes
More fund-raising for charity
More fund-raising for the school
