02 May 2011Story Giants in the May Day Parade
Children in Yr5 and 6 took part in story telling with Giants today in the May Day celebrations in Penrith. Parents and children enjoyed a lovely sunny day and listened to stories performed by the children using the Giant puppets created for the event. In the afternoon everyone took part in the parade through the center of Penrith it was an awesome sight as all the Giant puppets paraded together.

24 March 2011Comic Relief
To raise money for Comic Relief the children and the community took part in a large 'Wake up and Shake up' activity on the playground. They danced to Kyle, YMCA and many more fun songs. Everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the parents! During the afternoon the children took part in a 'Sing a song', 'Do a Dance' or 'Tell a joke' event. The laughter from the start to the finish raised the roof off the school!Thank you everybody who took part, it was a brilliant day and we raised lots of money.

16 February 2011Community Cohesion Day - 'Great Pictures!'
Children from our Key Stage 2 spent a day with other KS2 children from 4 other schools. The day was to promote Community Cohesion within the local area, thus allowing children to interact and learn about each other. During the day the children had the opportunity to experience activities such as toasting marshmellows on a fire, blindfolded walks, nature trails, sporting activities and art. at the end of the day the children sahred their experiences with the rest of the group, the overwhelming response was 'I have made new friends' and 'It was great to meet new people from other schools and learn about them and their schools'.

23 March 2010Animation Day
The children spent the day working in team to create an animation. The children had to use key skills in teamwork, leadership, arts and crafts, literacy and ICT to create the animations. They created settings and a story line and use digital photographer to take pictures which they put together to make a film. A special thanks to Sharon Thompson (ICT Leading Teacher) for all her help in teaching and supporting the children during the day.

Kirkby Thore School and Kirkby Thore Pre-School children ran 1 mile around the school field to raise money for 'Sport Relief'. Before completing the run the children and adults warmed up to JLS, which was really fun! The children had a great time and we raised £92, which was a great achievementm, thank you everyone.
